On 8 September the government announced changes to restrictions on gatherings, and the detail was published on-line on 9 September.

The new restrictions will be enacted into law, and penalties can be levied for those that don’t comply. Further information on these changes can be found at https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/coronavirus-outbreak-faqs-what-you-can-and-cant-do/coronavirus-outbreak-faqs-what-you-can-and-cant-do

Essentially, from 14th September the changes will limit the number of people who can socialise together in groups to a maximum of 6 indoors or outdoors - if they don’t live together. A larger family - who are all living together - may continue to socialise together.

This potentially changes the number of people that are permitted to attend together at public buildings such as Northiam Village Hall. The government has published special rules for multi-purpose community facilities, such as Northiam Village Hall, and these can be found at

https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/covid-19-guidance-for-the-safe-use-of-multi-purpose-community-facilities/covid-19-guidance-for-the-safe-use-of-multi-purpose-community-facilities

The specific wording on how many people can attend the hall is found in section 2a of the above guidance document.

The purpose of this message is to confirm to you (one of our regular users), that Northiam Village Hall is Covid-19 Secure. This means that users of the hall may bring visitors into the hall in numbers that may exceed 6 but are within the Covid-19 Secure capacity of the premises - that is 32 for the main hall, and 6 for the Jenkins room. PLEASE NOTE THIS IMPORTANT CHANGE FROM 14 SEPTEMBER: the new restrictions mean that, if more than 6 people attend, they must separate into groups not exceeding 6, and each of these groups must not socialise with the other groups in your party during your hall booking. As I am sure you will understand, this needs to be carefully controlled and communicated to any visitors.

The existing rules on face coverings, social distancing, one-way system, regular washing or sanitising of hands, and recording contact details for any visitors, remain in place.

If you are using or planning to use Northiam Village Hall, then please do ensure that your visitors comply with this additional guidance.

This document should be read in conjunction with the Northiam Village Hall Covid-19 Special Procedures, a copy of which was sent to you in early August. If you need a further copy of that document, then please let me know.
